Where to Eat & Drink in Amed, Bali

Amed is a sleepy little fishing village, so I didn't expect to eat so well when I first visited. But the restaurants here were a welcome surprise.

Since then, I’ve visited a few times and found lovely beachside warungs, fusion cuisine, cozy cafes, sunset bars, and one surprisingly good margarita. Below, I’ll share the places I'd actually recommend to a friend — and that I look forward to going back to myself!

This is by no means a list of everything available in Amed, so of course, explore what’s around your accommodations and activities. There are many local warungs with delicious fried rice, noodles, soups, satays, and fish dotted all around the area.

This guide just gives you a starting point, and also some ideas for where to go if you want something a little special. I’ve added details such as approximate pricing, which have live music, veg-friendly options, and which are laptop-friendly (for the remote workers out there!). Happy eating in Amed!

Tips for Eating Out in Amed

  • Plan around where you're staying. Amed is spread along the coast, and there's no Grab or Gojek here, so it helps to know what's within walking distance (or plan a scooter or driver for the rest).

  • Drink quality: You can get a delicious fresh coconut, fresh fruit juice, or ice-cold Bintang from almost anywhere. Just don’t expect extraordinary cocktails from warungs, even if they are on the menu — they are often very sweet and made with syrup.

  • Food quality: I have made suggestions here based on my personal experience, which may be different from yours. When it comes to eating fish and seafood, it’s always best to check recent reviews and the overall standard of the restaurant you’re in, to make sure it’s handled properly.

  • Check opening hours before you go. Some restaurants only open in the evening.

  • Book ahead for sunset. You can book via WhatsApp for popular sunset spots, like Solaluna or Joli Best View.

  • Payment: Cards are accepted in many places, but cash might be preferred for smaller warungs, kiosks, snorkel equipment rentals on the beach, informal drivers, and souvenirs. You can get cash from the ATM next to Solaluna Mart.

REMEMBER: These recommendations are based on my personal experiences. There are so many variables, such as what you order, who is working when you visit, staff and management changes, etc. that can make your experience different from mine.

Good Stuff Cafe & EcoStore

This is my pick for breakfast or brunch in Amed. While I love Balinese and Indonesian food, it is nice to have a little health break once in a while ;) Good Stuff offers a really delicious healthy menu!

If you’re craving a spa moment, Island Girls Bali is just around the corner, and the cafe is about a 10-minute walk from the beach if you want to get your toes in the sand.

BONUSES: They have a very cute cafe dog, and it's also home to a gorgeous little shop selling loads of made-in-Bali products, so you can combine your brunch with a bit of feel-good shopping.

  • Vegetarian-friendly? Very — they’ve got loads of healthy meat-free options

  • Laptop-friendly? Yes, but the seating isn’t particularly comfortable for long stays/tall people

Rimba Cafe

This is my favourite restaurant in Amed… so if you only eat at one place on this list, make it this one.

The setting is beautiful, with jungly gardens and both indoor and outdoor seating.

Menu-wise, Rimba does a really nice mix of fusion food, with plenty of healthy options for when you're craving something fresh. Then you can balance it out with their awesome desserts — so save room! Their gelato and sweets are worth it.

  • Laptop-friendly? Not conventionally, but it’s possible; just be wary of the sea salt in the air here ;)

Warung Bobo

For something much more casual and vibey, head to Warung Bobo.

Think bean bags right on the beach, local food, and a laid-back vibe that makes it easy to stay for another Bintang beer. They also have a great sunset view and live music from 6 PM on many evenings.

The food here is average, and it’s a popular spot with backpackers, but the ambiance is fun for anyone who enjoys a laid-back, beachy vibe and live music.

Unfortunately, the last time I went here, it was on a bad date, but the live music was a saving grace. Sok, please go and make good memories there for me 🤣

Blue Earth Village

Come here for the yoga and the smoothies.

I'll be honest: the food isn't the highlight here. But the ambiance absolutely is, with an ocean view that makes a simple coffee, smoothie or sunset drink feel like a special occasion. It pairs well with a yoga class here, too, so check their schedule and plan a smoothie on the cafe deck afterwards.

ABOUT BLUE EARTH VILLAGE

  • Location: Google Maps pin

  • Best for: Coffee, smoothies, drinks & post-yoga hangs

  • Seating: Outdoor, with shaded and open spaces available

  • What to order: Check out the darja juice, cool down with a coconut or an iced latte, or try a banana date smoothie

  • Average non-alcoholic drink price: IDR 30-60K

  • Vegetarian-friendly? Very — they’ve got loads of healthy meat-free options, as well as milk alternatives, but I mainly recommend getting a drink here

  • Laptop-friendly? Yes, but the seating isn’t particularly comfortable for long stays/tall people

Joli Best View Café

I highly doubted this place because often a name like this is an exaggeration, but Joli genuinely has such a lovely view and ambiance. Of course, I especially recommend it around sunset, when you can settle in with dinner or drinks and watch the sky change over the coast. They also have very nice acoustic live music on Friday nights.

ABOUT JOLI BEST VIEW CAFE

  • Location: Google Maps pin

  • Best for: Coastal view, nice ambiance, drinks & meals

  • Seating: Outdoor, all covered, with an open sea view

  • What to order: Fresh coconut, Bintang beer, fried banana for dessert (pisang goreng)

  • Average dish price: IDR 30-60K

  • Vegetarian-friendly? You can find dishes like vegetarian fried rice with tempeh satay, fried satay and veggie spring rolls

  • Laptop-friendly? Possibly, during the daytime when it isn’t too busy.

Ibus Sea View Warung

This is a tiny little spot where I stopped for only a coffee during a scooter ride along the coast, but the view is great, the staff were super kind, and they have great ratings for their food too.

P.S. They only serve Bali coffee (a strong black coffee) here, just to know in case you are stopping in for a bevvy only.

ABOUT IBUS SEA VIEW WARUNG

  • Location: Google Maps pin

  • Best for: Coffee, smoothies, drinks & post-yoga hangs

  • Seating: Outdoor, with shaded and open spaces available

  • What to order: Their nasi campur and Balinese curries look amazing

  • Average dish price: IDR 50-70K

  • Vegetarian-friendly? They have veggie kalasan and tofu or tempeh satay, along with a couple more options

  • Laptop-friendly? Not recommended, it’s a small place

Solaluna Rooftop Bar

The newest sunset spot in Amed is on the rooftop of Solaluna Beach Homestay. This homestay — my personal favourite in the area — recently expanded to include a low-rise hotel and this rooftop spot.

I went right when it opened, and it is definitely a gem when it comes to the view and ambiance. They were still figuring out service and cocktail-making, so personally I’d recommend it for a beer, juice, coconut or snacks for now.

On a clear day, it is awesome for sunset, too!

ABOUT SOLALUNA ROOFTOP

  • Location: Google Maps pin

  • Best for: Sunset or sea view, beer & juice

  • Seating: Outdoor and shaded

  • What to order: Cold Bintang or fresh juice

  • Average drink price: IDR 50-70K

Where to Get Snacks & Supplies in Amed

If you want to stock up on snacks, refreshments, a picnic, or drinks to enjoy back at your hotel, Solaluna Mart has a great selection.

Try their homemade brownies and any snacks by Bali’s YAVA — you can’t miss them; they’re in bright orange packaging. My favourites are the cacao peanut popcorn, cacao or chili lime cashews, and chocolate vanilla granola bites (they have flavours without chocolate, but I’m definitely a chocolate gal).

Besides Solaluna Mart, you’ll find lots of small shops, and the chain Indomaret is the popular chain convenience store all over Bali, including one on the main road in Amed.

What to Skip in Amed

There are a couple of places I can’t really recommend for the time being.

One is Cocina Mexicana. I love Mexican food, so I really wanted to rate this place, and I went twice to be sure. Both times, the food was really lacking in flavour. If you want a margarita, though, this could be a spot to get one. If the food has gotten better, please let me know ;)

Second, and unfortunately, what used to be a lovely free spot to enjoy the sunset has turned into a bit of a day club. I have been twice to Sunset Point, and it is definitely over hyped. Even though they charge an entry fee and a service fee, the food isn’t great, the service is slow, and the pool is crowded.

Better to enjoy the pool at your hotel and get sunset meals and drinks somewhere like Joli Best View or the Solaluna rooftop, listed above.

What are your favourites?

This list is definitely not exhaustive. While I have sampled quite a bit over the course of four visits to Amed, there is still more I want to explore in the area. For example, I’m super curious about Zaitun, which is supposed to have great Spanish food.
